Local H + Sunset Black + Murge at The Rock on April 12th 2005

Local H
Sunset Black and Murge

A tuesday night at The Rock in Maplewood, Mn brought to stage the national touring band known as Local H along with the hard hitting Twin Cities based Sunset Black and Murge. A high strung energy night by all three bands put together by BBM&E with guest MC Kelly Moore adding some spice to the evening.

Local H is a national two man band on tour out of Chicago and  as headliner for the night, Scott and Brian did not disappoint their Twin Cities fans.  These guys were not only easy on the ears, but easy on the eyes. Guest MC Kelly, from TC Muzique was asked to blow a kiss out to the crowd to start this national act out. That was just the beginning of a show that kept everyone's attention.   Lead singer, Scott Lucas was more than active on stage as he jumped into the crowd, hung from the ceiling bars, and played on the shoulder's of one lucky fan.  Brian St Clair was the wild man at drums with his reverse use of the sticks and often seeking a fresh breeze from the fan behind him. These guys pulled in a huge on enthusiasm crowd and for good reason. . . they rock ! ! The crowd got a good musical buzz from the band as they played a number of songs from their six albums which includes their latest CD titled 'Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles?'. There is the 'Cooler Heads' video on their website along with a number of others to check out. These two heads were rather cool on stage and stamped a big H on the Twin Cities local scene for this tuesday night crowd.

Sunset Black is originally from Kansas City, the band members from Sunset Black formed this rock band back when they were in high school, boys who shared a passion for music. A great accomplishment for this group was recording a cd under MCA/Bieler Brothers Records.  They didn't waste any time up on stage satisfying their fans with music that gets your blood pumping.  Their music set was diverse indeed as the lead singer Brandon kept my attention not by the tie he wore, but with how passionate he sang the lyrics, projecting his voice with emotion and letting the crowd in on what and how the lyrics hit home with his band.  This band was tight, the lead singer had range in his voice, and the songs had meaning. . .it was an incredible show by a very talented band! Hard hitting clever moves on guitars and bass with an air of excitement within their performance. Scene fans should certainly seek out their music as they do play some of the major venues in the Twin Cities area.

Murge is a hot band out of the Twin Cities who puts on a full throttle show with a new website to check out at www.murgemusic.com. Together the band works well on putting lyrics created by lead singer Brian David within a style of music that reflects with a clean punch to the senses the sound that is Murge.  The large crowd of fans were lucky to hear two new songs debuted by these guys at The Rock -  "The Pull" and "This is the Year." With the energy that is generated on stage, Murge was again a crowd pleaser and started out this awesome night of talented bands at The Rock. More Murge to come as they will kick off June by playing at Newpalooza II, in Black River Falls, WI. where 3 Pill  Morning, Thought Cloud, Hickibilly Blues, and Jistoray will be among the other 15+ bands performing at this music-camping event. Tickets are just $32.50 for the weekend, and can be purchased by contacting kamoore68@netzero.com and check out the website www.newpaloosa.com. One week later, Friday, June 10, they will rock the Mainstage at the Quest in Mpls ~ a performance not to be missed! A CD release show for their debut CD coming out soon titled 'Interfuse' - keep an eye out for this one.
